I have been in the trenches designing and teaching the courses that I designed since 2004. In fact, I have designed and taught nine courses for an early childhood education program since that time, and I remember how thrilled but nervous I was when I embarked on this brand new journey of distance education-- a journey I never dreamed of taking.

I remember being confident in what I knew about teaching future teachers but so scared that the technology and the virtual walls would sabotage my zeal and deny my students an enjoyable experience.

Honestly, the first three years, I did not enjoy teaching online. But, I kept tweaking things here and there. Since curriculum and instruction are my pride and joy, I kept changing this and trying that. I learned from my mistakes and got better and better each year.

Dr. Kellie P. Alston is an educator, trainer, author, and instructional designer who has been developing and teaching courses online since 2004. Her passion for teaching grew from making her cousins, friends, and stuffed animals play school to serving in the field of education as an elementary school teacher, a reading specialist, a curriculum facilitator, an adjunct instructor, a course developer, and a full-time distance education lecturer.

Through her masterful use of cooperative learning structures and purposeful assignments, she continues to create powerful learning experiences that stimulate minds and ultimately, transform students into incredible learning commanders who leave the virtual classroom committed to impacting the world.

When does the course start and finish?
This course is completely self-paced, so as soon as you enroll, you may get started. There are five lessons that equate to about three hours in mini-workshops. So, depending on your schedule, you can complete the course in two weeks or less. You want to make sure that you complete the follow-up exercises after watching the mini-workshops and that all depends on your schedule.
How long do I have access to the course?
After enrolling, you have 2 years to access this course across any and all devices you own.
Do I have access to you, Kellie?
Since this course is just a taste of my expertise, unfortunately, you do not have personal access to me. What does the course include?
The course includes five mini-workshops for each lesson, worksheets for taking notes and strategic planning, and helpful actionable steps so that you accomplish something each step of the way. A journal for critical reflection is also included. At the end of the course, you will also find an appendix of samples and examples as well as suggested "next steps."
